American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers course is for wellness and healthcare professionals such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses, respiratory therapists, lifeguards, coaches, and personal fitness trainers who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a Healthcare Provider CPR course.
The course is also intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, including: security guards, airline personnel, and teachers. It is also appropriate for lay rescuers who may have a need to respond to an emergency in the workplace, and family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death.
This course covers core material such as adult, pediatric, and infant CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction and automated external defibrillation.
